Coach: Heidi Deery (16th year)

Last year’s record: 14-7, lost in Western D final

Returning
letter winners: Juniors – Allison Hammond (5-6 guard), Sierra Marchacos (5-7 guard); Sophomores – Alanna Lauter (5-6 guard), Chantal Carrier (5-10 forward/center), Emily Carrier (5-11 guard/forward), Sandra Campbell (5-5 guard), Lexi Letarte (5-9 forward), Becka Walton (5-5 guard).

Key
losses: Sam Olivieri (guard), Haley White (guard), Angela White (forward).

Promising newcomers: Freshmen – Abby Abbott (5-8 guard.forward), Olivia Decelles (5-5 guard), Jenney Abbott (5-11 forward/center); Eighth grader – Tori Letarte (5-7 guard).

Outlook: The Lakers lost three key components to a team that reached the regional final last year. Rangeley still has an experienced club for a team without a senior. Hammond has played four years while the sophomores have played three years. Players will have to step up and replace Olivieri and the White sisters, but the Lakers could be another force in Western D this year and in season’s to come.

Coach’s comment: “We are looking for our returning players to play a big role offensively and defensively. We are very excited about our four newcomers and their potential to step up and produce as the season progresses. This year we may be the deepest down the bench that we have ever been.” –  Coach Heidi Deery
