Chaffee and his wife Beth have five train layouts on display inside the historic 1840 barn on the grounds of the nonprofit McLaughlin Foundation. Known more for their lilacs and wildflowers, the foundation has held the holiday-themed train show every winter since 2001. Chaffee’s train set has been a work in progress for the past 15 years. “We love doing it,” he said. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 6, 12 and 13.
