100 years ago, 1909
An important meeting of the Lewiston Board of Trade was held last evening in its rooms on Lisbon Street. The most important matter taken up was the establishment of a technical school, and it was finally voted that an evening school of this nature be started in Lewiston. Twenty-five dollars was donated by the board for the incident expenses which must of necessity be incurred in the establishment of such a school.
50 years ago, 1959
The Dirigo Camera Club of Lewiston and Auburn placed first in a color slide contest conducted by camera clubs in Maine. Robert Larrabee of Auburn won second place in individual awards and Stanley Andrews, a member of the Androscoggin Camera Club, won an honorable mention.
25 years ago, 1984
DURHAM — The Planning Board will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the elementary school, and is asking citizens to attend and express their opinions on a proposed 26-lot subdivision on a 90-acre parcel of land on Shiloh Road.
William Cairns of Topsham is proposing the subdivision, Board Chairman Russell Jabaut said the board would like to hear input from citizens before making a final decision on the proposal.
