Tree lighting

LEWISTON — The Holy Family Church will have a tree lighting celebration at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the church, Sabattus Street. The Trinity Catholic School choir will provide holiday carols while hot cocoa is served. All faiths are welcome at the community celebration of Christmas.

Candlelight service

TURNER — The Turner Center Universalist Church will have a candlelight service at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24. All are welcome.

Christmas dinner

LEWISTON — Hope Haven Gospel Mission will offer a free Christmas dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 25, at the mission, 209 Lincoln St. All are welcome who are in need. The meal will be available to the shut-ins as well. Those who are shut in and need delivery should call 783-6086.

Singing carols

AUBURN — A Christmas carol sing will be presented by the Lewiston High School chorus, directed by Rebecca Popkey, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at St. Michael’s Church, 78 Pleasant St. The public is welcome to attend.

Lodge party

AUBURN — Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet for a Christmas party at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, in the recreation room at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home, 85 Caron Lane. The Noble Grand, Pam Black, suggests that all wear green and/or red and bring snacks to share. In lieu of a gift exchange, cash donations for the Salvation Army food/oil bank will be the Community Outreach Project for December.

The meeting will open at 7 p.m. during which all will be asked to share a Christmas story.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 15 were as follows: first, Sherrie Hinckley and Luke Merry; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; fourth, Anna Vitiello and Rosemarie Goodwin; first in B, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second in B, Nancy Farmer and Paul Sherman.

Winners of the quarterly club championship at Schooner Estates on Dec. 16 were: first, Patricia Quinn and Rosemarie Goodwin; second/third tie, Sherrie Hinckley and Mary Leahey with Paul Barber and Luke Merry; fourth, Les Buzzell and John Hackett; first in B, Claire Lyons and Anna Vitiello.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday and at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area.
