MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library recently received a grant for children’s books from the Libri Foundation. The Libri Foundation, based in Eugene, Ore., is a nationwide nonprofit organization which donates new, quality, hardcover books to small rural public libraries in the United States through its Books For Children program.

Since the foundation was established in 1989, they have donated more than $2,300,000 worth of new children’s books to more than 2,000 libraries in 48 states. With the grant, the Mexico Public Library received a total of 79 books from the foundation.

The donation has enhanced the children’s section of the library, offering many selections for use in the library’s story hour programs, “Wonderful Wednesdays” programs and future summer reading programs. Also, the books are available for children and their families to check out and read at home.
