JAY — Selectmen voted to sell a 1972 pickup truck used by the Fire-Rescue Department for miscellaneous tasks to the high bidder, Rick Duguay of Jay.
Duguay, also the Department’s assistant fire chief, bid $1,277.05 for the Ford F350 truck, Town Manager Ruth Cushman said Tuesday.
Four bids were received for the truck with the bids ranging from a low of $435.28 to Duguay’s bid.
On Monday, selectmen also set the next joint meeting between their board and the Planning Board to continue review of the town’s environmental ordinance at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the town office.
Verso Paper Corp. representatives and the town’s Environmental Code Enforcement Officer Shiloh Ring have reviewed state and local permits issued to the mill and will discuss their findings at the meeting, Cushman said.
The paper company has asked town officials to review the ordinance to see if there is any way to make changes that would be more cost efficient for the mill’s permitting process.
The town’s ordinance regulates air emissions, discharges into the Androscoggin River and solid waste among other pollution controls.
