NEW SHARON — The New Sharon community is rallying around Ron Sawyer who is battling brain cancer.

A benefit auction and pork and turkey supper will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Masonic Lodge on Route 2.

The auction will begin at 4 p.m. and feature such donated items as a cord of wood, a round bale of hay, Snap-on tools, a model of a Pontiac GTO, pizza, 20 pounds of propane, and maple syrup.

Following the auction, a supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The meal costs $8 or a donation.

There is also a raffle for a home theater system valued at $2,000, said Cherie Saddler, of Pitcher Perfect Tire Service.

“This is New Sharon. This is a small town and someone is in need,” Saddler said.

Representatives of the tire service, Douin’s Market, the Masons, and Sawyer’s brothers, Mike and Jason, are among those organizing the event.
