The Sun Journal is retiring its monthly collector series – for keeps? for now? we’ll see – and wants to run in its place a new feature on the men and women who’ve made names for themselves in towns around central and western Maine. Maybe they’ve served as selectmen 10 times. Maybe they’ve been police chief, librarian and dog catcher for 25 years. Maybe (Chester Greenwood) they invented the ear muff. Maybe (Hannibal Hamlin) they served as vice president of the United States. You know them – everyone in town knows them. The famous and maybe just a bit infamous. Please send names and, if available, contact information of anyone you’d recommend for the new series to staff writer Kathryn Skelton at 689-2844 or kskelton@sunjournal.com.
