St. Dom’s 58, Wiscasset 32

AUBURN — Allaina Murphy scored 27 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 58-32 triumph over Wiscasset in an MVC girls’ basketball game played Monday.

The Saints (11-6) took command from the start, opening a 22-10 advantage after one quarter.

Julia Richardson chipped in with seven points for the Saints. Sarah Gosselin led the Saints with eight rebounds, while Morgan Brown added seven boards. Elise Applegate recorded seven steals. Alli Johnson and Ali Preble led the Redskins (2-15) with 11 points apiece.

Madison 41, Livermore Falls 30

MADISON — Senior forward Ali Russell garnered 17 points to lead Madison to a 41-30 victory over Livermore Falls in MVC girls’ basketball action Monday.

The Bulldogs (13-4) started off slow, but rebounded from a first quarter 7-4 deficit for a 17-14 lead at the half. Senior forward Andrea Smith hauled down 10 rebounds to go along with six points for Madison.

Junior center Megan Welch provided 12 points for the Andies (12-5) in the losing effort.

Greater Portland Christian 40, Hebron 33

HEBRON — Greater Portland Christian took control in the second quarter then held off Hebron for a 40-33 victory in girls’ varsity basketball action Monday.

Trailing 11-7 after one, GPC outscored Hebron, 15-2, in the second period to seize the momentum. Malorie Johnson scored 12 points to lead Hebron (10-7), while Emily Powers chipped in with 10 points. Liz Garland and Robyn Waugh tallied 11 points apiece for GPC (8-6).

Georges Valley 50, Monmouth 34

THOMASTON — Sophomore foward Jill Bradbury recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Georges Valley topped Monmouth for a 50-34 victory in MVC girls’ basketball action Monday.

Bradbury scored the first nine points of the game for the Buccaneers (8-9), tallying 12 of her 16 points in the first quarter.

The Mustangs bounded back to within a point in the second quarter, but the Buccaneers sprinted to a 25-18 lead at the midpiont. Sophomore forward Kristine Kahl made six field goals for 12 points for Monmouth.

Freshman forward Kennadi Grover kept the momentum alive for Georges Valley in the second half. She scored 12 points on five field goals and two from the free throw line.

Telstar 68, Mt. Abram 54

BETHEL — Four Telstar players scored in double figures to defeat Mt. Abram, 68-54, in MVC boys’ basketball action on Monday.

Danny Vaughn led the Rebels’ (5-12) balanced attack with 24 points, while Dan Whitney added 12 points, Elek Pew 11 and Corey Howard 10. Jimmy Barker paced the Roadrunners (4-13) with a game-high 29 points, including five 3-pointers, and Jarrod Blood chipped in with 14 points.

 Boys’ hockey

St. Dom’s 3, Falmouth 1

LEWISTON — Junior forward Alex Parker scored a pair of goals to lead St. Dom’s to a 3-1 victory over Falmouth in boys’ ice hockey action Monday.

Senior forward Dan Hanley notched an equalizer for the Yachtsmen (7-4-2) in the sixth minute of the second period. But, Parker responded at the 14:38 mark with the eventual game-winner, his second goal of the game.

Trevar Haefele had an outstanding performance on defense for the Saints (9-5), executing the penalty-kill with precision.
