LIVERMORE — The Tri Town Community Action Group, in cooperation with the Maine State Police, will offer the Neighbors Caring for Neighbors program for those who would like to have someone check in on them.
A volunteer from the group will place a weekly phone call to participants at home at a pre-arranged time of day. If the volunteer is unable to reach a participant, they will try again a short while later. If they are still unable to reach them, the volunteer will call one of the contacts listed on the application – for example, a neighbor or family member living nearby.
If necessary, a volunteer will be sent to a home.
This is a free program. Those who would like to participate may call the Maine State Police
Barracks in Gray, at 657-3030 or 1-800-228-0857, and ask to leave a
message with Trooper Michael Chavez.
Leave a name, telephone number and
the best time for him to return the call. Chavez will contact
participants and match them with a community volunteer. An enrollment
form will be provided to fill out.
