Fan bus

RUMFORD — A fan bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, from the Mountain Valley High
School back parking lot, and travel to the Portland Expo for the Mountain Valley boys’ basketball quarterfinal
game versus Lincoln Academy. Seating is limited and available
on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cost is $2 for students in kindergarten through grade 12 and $3 for adults. The bus will not stop on the way to the game. Any student in kindergarten through grade eight must be accompanied by an adult chaperone and any person who does not plan to return on the bus must have a note
signed by their parent. The fan bus will come home directly after the Mountain Valley
game.

Society meeting

RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Rumford Falls Auditorium in the Municipal
Building, Congress Street.

Paul Jones of the Chisholm Ski Club
will present “The History of Skiing in Rumford,” a program on the sport
of skiing and its impact on Rumford. Society members and the public are
encouraged to attend.

It is suggested that guests might want to
dress warmly, as the auditorium is difficult to heat during this cold
period.

Quilt show

AUGUSTA — The Pine Tree Quilters Guild will offer a
chartered bus trip to the 34th annual Vermont Quilt Festival, from
Friday to Sunday, June 25 to 27.

The show takes place in the
Champlain Valley Exposition Building and offers hundreds of quilts to
view as well as more than 80 vendors. The trip will also include a visit
to the Shelburne Museum in the Lake Champlain Valley.

Pick-up
locations will be in Bangor, Augusta and Portland. One does not need to
be a registered guild member to go on the trip. Registration will be on a
first-come, first-served basis. Registration forms may be found online
