AUBURN — College-bound seniors at Edward Little High School are encouraged to apply for the Larry Marczak Memorial Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to one graduating senior at the school. This year marks the ninth annual awarding of the scholarship.

Interested students should obtain an information sheet from the ELHS guidance office. Completed applications are due at the office by March 19. Students must include a 250-word essay, explaining something that they have done during high school that has had a positive impact on someone else’s life. Students are also asked to include two letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The scholarship was started in memory of Larry Marczak, a high school science teacher in the Auburn school system for 33 years, who passed away in 2002.
Marczak recognized students that were willing to work hard, regardless of the level of their individual abilities. He was dedicated to instilling a love of learning in his students and encouraged them to pursue post-secondary education.
