Go Red for Women at Rumford Hospital –
More than 50 people paid $5 each to dress down for the day and sport the American Heart Association Go Red pin on Friday, February 5th. Participants wore red and the Go Red pins to bring attention to the issues of women and heart disease. Ten times more women die of heart disease in the US than from breast cancer. To save lives women need to know about the symptoms and risks of cardiovascular disease, and events such as Go Red help. Monies donated on Go Red Day are counted as part of the support for the hospital’s Heart Walk Team. Many Go Red participants gathered in the hospital’s 1926 lobby to be photographed, including RH President John Welsh in the left rear.
