PARIS — A former selectman convicted of embezzlement in 2007 was granted more time Friday to catch up on payments that are part of his post-conviction requirements.

Ronald S. Snow, 60, of 292 Lake Road in Norway, was given an additional five months to become current on the payments. Snow admitted in October 2007 to stealing $29,352.01 from Norway-Paris Community Television and was ordered to repay that amount along with $8,626.63 in legal and other fees the station accumulated during the case.

Snow is required to pay the station $600 a month. Last month, probation officer David Ferrell filed a motion with the Oxford County Superior Court seeking to revoke Snow’s probation, saying he had failed to make payments and was $5,400 in arrears.

Snow admitted Friday that he had not kept up to date in the payments. His attorney, Edward Dilworth, said he was only $1,800 behind as of Friday.

Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne said he and Dilworth had agreed to continue the motion five months to a June court date.

“That will hopefully allow the defendant to catch up with his arrears and continue making monthly payments,” Beauchesne said.

Snow served as NPC-TV’s accountant for two years, and an audit determined that $29,352.01 was missing from the station’s account. The investigation also found several checks had been written out to cash, Snow, or his accounting or redemption businesses.

Snow was sentenced to serve six months of a five-year prison sentence and three months of probation. However, the sentence was later reduced to two months due to Snow’s need for continuing dialysis treatments, which would have been billed to the Oxford County Jail for as long as he was incarcerated.

If a person is found to have violated the terms of their probation, they may be required to serve some or all of their suspended jail time.

Snow served as a selectman in Norway from 1993 to 1999 and unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the board in 2003. He also formerly served on the Norway Comprehensive Plan Committee, the Norway Revitalization Group, the executive council of the Growth Council of Oxford Hills and the board of directors of Norway-Paris Solid Waste.
