RUMFORD — Black Mountain of Maine will host the second annual Winterfest, from Friday to Sunday, Feb. 26 to 28. Events will kick off Friday, with lifts open from 3 to 9 p.m. and tickets for $10.
Happy hour drink specials will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. and Black Mountain’s Pub Jam Night will take place from 6 to 10 p.m., featuring Steve’s hot wings and nachos.
Saturday’s events will feature free guided tours of the Chummy Broomhall cross-country trails, sled dog rides, terrain park events, scenic lift rides and a barbecue at the summit of the mountain.
The River Valley Interact Club will provide face painting for the kids and from 4 to 6 p.m. the Novice Trail will be shut down to allow people to slide on the trail. Participants should bring their own sled. The night will feature many other events, including a prime rib dinner for $13, torch light parade and fireworks.
Sunday will wrap up with sleigh rides from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., scenic lift rides and a barbecue at the summit of the mountain. The “Eat the Heat” chili cook-off will take place from noon to 2 p.m. and feature chili from many area restaurants.
Throughout the weekend, people will be able to ski and board for $20 a ticket. The mountain will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
