Joyce Ann Sherman
1954 – 2010

AUBURN – Joyce Ann Sherman, 55, resident of Northern Spring Drive in Poland, died Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 18, 1954, in Lewiston, a daughter of Hayward M. “Bud” and Barbara A. (Nason) Leighton. She was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1974.

She enjoyed spending time relaxing in front of the television, watching favorite shows; reading; doing word search puzzles, but mostly enjoyed being home to take care of her family. She had done some extensive traveling with her husband, who was serving in the military. They had been stationed in Iceland and Virginia Beach, Va.

She will be remembered for her strength and ability to care for her family. She was there for her son, who endured six open heart surgeries to repair a life-threatening cardiac defect. Her compassion and love will live on in those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her father of Turner; her husband of 27 years, Randy E. Sherman of Poland; four children, Shane E. Sherman, Barbara A. McKenna, Elizabeth F. Nelson and Dennis R. Daigle; a brother, Robert M. Leighton, of Minot; several grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and many friends.

She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara A. Leighton.
