TOPSHAM — For more than 35 years, the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days program has been making a difference in the fight against cancer and providing hope for those facing the disease. Daffodil Days is one of the American Cancer Society’s oldest and most beloved fundraising programs.

This year’s Daffodil Days is coming to Maine the week of March 22. The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers – anyone from school children to corporate CEOs – to assist in taking requests for, packing and delivering daffodils at work, in neighborhoods, in schools and around town.

“This program is a great and easy way to make a difference in your community by raising money to help eliminate cancer as a life-threatening disease,” said Crystal DeRocher, community executive for the American Cancer Society. “Seeing the joy on people’s faces when we deliver daffodils gives me such a sense of pride, and I know we’re giving hope to others.”

In the past 15 years alone, Daffodil Days has raised more than $260 million nationwide. Dollars raised through Daffodil Days provide the American Cancer Society with much-needed dollars to save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
