Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care’s Parent Involvement Committee recently held an event open to all Head Start parents, families and caregivers. “Great Gifts You Can Make” was held at the B Street Community Center in Lewiston and focused on using inexpensive items to make gifts that can be shared with family and friends. Participants were provided with all materials, and taught to make soup mix in a jar, cookie mix in a jar, jewelry, candle centerpieces, barbecue rubs and bath salts. Instructions to recreate the gifts were available. Head Start parent Bethany Couture, left, is pictured making soup in a jar with Head Start teacher Wanda Grandmaison at the event.
