AUBURN — The Auburn Fire Department invites the public to observe its upcoming practical training sessions in April, May and June.

By observing firefighters in action under controlled conditions, the public will have a better understanding of what they can expect during an emergency incident, said Acting Chief Mike Minkowsky. The fire department’s intention is to narrate each emergency training evolution so the public can gain a greater insight of emergency scene operations.

Extensive training for emergencies is practiced repeatedly so that when the firefighters arrive at an emergency scene, their preparedness shows by their effectiveness during incident mitigation.

Below is the schedule of quarterly training sessions open to the public:

April 26: Compressed Air Foam System Exercises, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.

May 26: Live Burns, 10 to 11:30 a.m., Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.

June 23: Vehicle Extrication Drills, 9:30 to 11 a.m., Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.

All dates subject to change due to inclement weather or emergency calls. Please check the fire department’s Web site at www.auburnmaine.org or call 784-5433, ext. 22, for updates.
