WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils announces that Mark Hews of Threshold to Maine Resource Conservation and Development Council in Gray has received the national association’s award for outstanding performance by an RC&D coordinator in 2009.

Hews has served as the coordinator for Threshold to Maine RC&D Council for 20 years. His eagerness and ability to listen to council members, facilitate community discussions, manage council operations and innovate in project design are exemplary. His most notable accomplishments over the past year include restructuring council meetings to bolster the participation of sponsors and council members; partnering with local and state groups in a coordinated effort to rebuild Maine’s small-scale and family farms; and hosting the 2009 New England regional meeting.
