LEWISTON — Bates College’s ninth annual Mount David Summit, featuring presentations, performances, screenings and exhibits, will be held Friday, Friday, April 2, in Pettengill Hall.
The college’s annual celebration of academic achievement showcases the research findings, community-based learning and creative work of more than 400 students.
Throughout the afternoon, students will present research posters, short talks, panel discussions, a photography exhibition and film screenings. Sessions, which run concurrently, will include panel discussions about a student work on a local community food assessment; a Roman law class holding a mock trial; talks exploring marine ecology, immigration and earning power, climate change, sex education in Maine schools and elder care; and two analyses of the rhetoric of first lady Michelle Obama.
The event will culminate in performances by the Bates Modern Dance Company at 7:30 p.m. in Schaeffer Theatre and a Bates College Choir concert, featuring Mozart’s “Requiem,” at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.
