LEWISTON – L/A Arts will present an encore performance of Androscoggin Dance’s “La Boutique Fantasque,” as well as an original piece written by dance instructor Elizabeth Hanson, “How The Marigold Came To Be,” on Wednesday, March 31.

La Boutique Fantasque reveals the plight of two very special twin dolls created by a French toy maker in Paris and destined to be sold separately, one to an American family and one a Russian family. The audience will discover how the dolls and other toys change their fate in this engaging children’s ballet danced to the music of Gioacchino Rossini.

Narrated by Langston Snodgrass, “How The Marigold Came to Be,” tells the story of Mary, a young girl who loves bright colors so decides to plant a flower garden. When she discovers a muddy mess after a rainstorm, she fears her garden in ruined. See her surprise when the sun comes out. This original ballet is danced to the music of “A Moment’s Notice” and features original medleys by local musician John Smedley.

Through the special support of Platz Associates and Austin Associates, along with the season sponsorship of Androscoggin Bank and Mechanics Savings Bank, L/A Arts is able to bring this encore performance to the community at a reduced ticket price, encouraging the community to experience the local talent of these dancers and the beauty of the ballet.

Performed by Lewiston Auburn’s pre-professional dance company, this performance is the perfect way to introduce families to the world of dance. The performance will take place at 7 p.m. at the Lewiston Middle School. Tickets are $7 / $5 for students and seniors 60-plus. Advance tickets may be purchased through L/A Arts at  782-7228 or on line at www.laarts.org.
