BANGOR – Husson University Eagles recorded their fifth consecutive doubleheader sweep with 8-5 and 7-4 softball wins Wednesday over the University of Maine at Farmington.

Kaitlyn Bartlett gave the Beavers (4-6) a lead with a two-run home run in the top of the first of Game 1, but Husson (14-12) answered with three runs in bottom of the second inning. Sarah Risser, Bri Webster and Courtney Hill each had an RBI.

The Eagles tacked on two additional runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on Webster’s second RBI double. Webster scored on a sacrifice fly by Cassie Berry to end the inning with a 5-2 lead. Husson added another run in the fifth on Megan Richard’s solo blast.

Kasey McPhail stroked a two-run double for UMF.

Bartlett belted another leadoff homer in the nightcap. Dottie Cameron’s two-run triple got Husson started in the third.  Diann Ramsey later homered for the Eagles.

Husson’s Kody Lyon picked up the complete-game win on the mound.

Men’s lacrosse

Husson 22, UMF 0

FARMINGTON – Husson University used a nine-goal outburst in the second quarter to propel the Eagles to a 22-0 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in North Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse Wednesday at Prescott Field.

 Ben Landry of Lewiston tallied eight goals to lead Husson (6-6). Anthony Diaz and Mitch Heaps each recorded four goals and three assists. Derrick Schlimm added four goals and Nick Brown of Sabattus pitched in two goals and two assists.

 Landry netted four of his goals in the second period. Husson held a 73-11 advantage in shots. Matthew Nutter (12 saves) and Aaron Burr (six saves) shared the duties in goal for Farmington (1-5).
