FARMINGTON — The next topic for “Prescriptions for Health” will be diabetes wound care featuring Dr. Gerald Tinguely. The program will discuss prevention and treatment of common skin conditions for those with diabetes. Family members and caregivers are also welcome.

The diabetes presentation will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital and will include light refreshments. Tinguely will cover a variety of diabetes issues including foot ulcers, leg swelling and wounds. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

In addition, representatives from Pine Tree Orthopedic Lab and Mac-Lin Medical Supply will be on hand with samples of equipment and devices that are helpful to those living with diabetes.

“People with diabetes frequently have problems with the nerves and circulation in their feet which can keep a wound from healing,” said Tinguely. “Through education such as this, we can lower the number of diabetes complications.”

Prescriptions for Health is open to the public and free of charge. Registration for the presentation is required, as space is limited. For more information or to register, call Jodi Cordes at 779-2451 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2451.
