SABATTUS — “Seussical Jr.,” a play based on the works of Dr. Seuss, will be performed at 6 p.m. Friday, April 30, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Sabattus Central School, 40 Ball Park Road.

More than 50 Sabattus Central School students in grades three to eight have been rehearsing since December under the direction of Tammy Fisher and Susan Ferguson.

The show follows the adventures of Horton the elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust on which the Whos of Whoville live. Horton connects with Jojo, the smallest Who, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mayor of Whoville.

Although ridiculed by the other animals in the Jungle of Nool for believing in something he cannot see, Horton persists in his belief that the Whos exist. Traveling everywhere from the Jungle of Nool to McEligott’s Pool to the Circus McGurkus, the audience will meet Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and the Sour Kangaroo, to name a few.

Tickets will be available at the door for $4 for adults and $2 for children age 4 to 17. Children 3 and under are free. Contact the school office at 375-6961 for more information.
