The Thorne’s Corner Grange fair of three days came to a successful close Friday night with a dance. Right here one might well say that no more successful Grange fair has been credited to another Grange the size of this one. The transportation accommodations by way of the electrics are so handy that this Grange need not depend upon the immediate neighborhood for patronage. On Friday night hordes of people from Lewiston and Auburn took advantage of this and in consequence the newly erected hall was tested to its utmost capacity.

Lewiston may have a summer school program this year. Such a program has been discussed by the Board of Education but as yet it is only in the talking stages. If it becomes a reality, the school would be held during the regular summer vacation period.

Details of a summer school program will be discussed at the next meeting of the Education Board. It would be a limited program, with only a few courses being offered for the students.

Employees of Quoddy Manufacturing in Auburn have qualified for special job training and other assistance under the federal Trade Act of 1974, according to state Labor Commissioner Patricia McDonough.

The U.S. Department of Labor added Quoddy, at 67 Minot Ave., and B and W Footwear of East Corinth to its list of 18 Maine shoe firms currently certified to receive assistance following an investigation, which was conducted in response to a petition filed on the workers’ behalf.
