Blueberry queen

UNION — Applications are open for the title of 2010 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen. The last date to apply is June 30. The queen will receive a $1,500 award. The crown princess will receive $500 and Miss Congeniality will receive $200.

Judges will evaluate each individual in three categories: written essay, oral presentation and individual interview. Royalty will be chosen during Union Fair Week Aug. 21 to 28. Interested individuals should contact Janette Small at 273-3276.

History Camp

PORTLAND — The Maine Humanities Council is again offering History Camp, a free week-long day camp for high school students. The first, from June 28 to July 2, at the Margaret Chase Smith Library in Skowhegan, will focus on the Cold War, McCarthyism and Margaret Chase Smith.

The second, from July 12 to July 16, at the Colburn House in Pittston and Old Fort Western in Augusta, will explore Benedict Arnold’s connection with the Maine frontier.
