Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 18 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, Linda Leotsakos and Jan Arey; third, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; fourth, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton. Winners in Flight B were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 25.

The club also met on May 19 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Les Buzzell and Lucille Theriault; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; tied at third, Linda Leotsakos and Mary Anne Trafton, with David Lock and Jeanine Kivus and Mike and Pat Quinn. Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 26.

Memorial Day parade

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 31. The parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the American Legion, Island Road.

The parade will proceed from Island Road onto Main Street, to Elm Street; turn onto Hemlock then on to Greene Street, ending at the veterans’ monument, where services will be held. After services, the group will parade back to the Legion Hall where refreshments will be provided.

All veterans organizations are invited to join the parade as well as local youth organizations. Those interested in participating should be at the post home no later than 8:30 a.m. For more information, call the Legion at 375-4058.

Plants available

LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District is offering products to give opportunities to plant seedlings and reduce water usage. Plant lists and order forms are available at www.androscogginswcd.net or call Jane at 753-9400, ext. 400.

Orders and payment for native conservation plants and rain barrels are required by noon Wednesday, June 2. Pick up will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 12, at the District Office Parking Lot, 254 Goddard Road.

GREENE — The Greene Historical Society will have Rena Wilbur as guest speaker at the monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at the historical society, 98 Main St.

Wilbur’s subject will be “Looking Into The Past With Joy.” Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.

LRTC scholarship

AUBURN — In honor of their 10th anniversary, Encompass Marketing and Design has announced that they will award a $1,000 scholarship to a member of 2010 graduating class from Lewiston Regional Technical Center.

The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from LRTC who has been accepted to a two- or four-year college program and is intending to pursue studies in marketing or subjects that relate to the marketing field. These can include graphic design, public relations, photography, creative writing or website development/programming.
