DURHAM — A Falmouth woman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Wednesday morning after a single-car crash on Hallowell Road.

Norma Billard, 67, was driving toward Route 136 when she failed to negotiate a curve, went off the left shoulder and struck a utility pole and tree stump in front of a home at 629 Hallowell Road, Androscoggin Deputy Sheriff Mark Caron said.

There was no damage to the pole, only a broken guy wire, Caron said. However, Billard’s 2007 Volvo station wagon was demolished in the 5:26 a.m. crash.

Billard complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital by Durham Fire and Rescue.
