POLAND — The Poland Spring Preservation Society will welcome Taylor’s Grove, a new musical act, on Monday, June 28, as part of its summer concert series.

Taylor’s Grove is a duo composed of longtime popular Maine musician Mac McHale, a well-known member of Two Old Friends and the Radio Gang; and Carolyn Hutton, a North Carolina native.

McHale and Hutton perform together in the spirit of old-fashioned American music that reaches across barriers of place and generations. They play guitar, mandolin and banjo. Together, they perform songs that McHale learned from his mother and country radio in Downeast Maine and that Hutton heard in Piedmont, N.C., in the days when people from miles around would bring their guitars and children to church just to sing and play.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at All Souls Chapel. Tickets are $7.50 at the door and include refreshments. Proceeds benefit the preservation and restoration of the Maine State Building and All Souls Chapel at the Poland Spring Inn, both of which are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Proceeds also help fund the nonprofit’s educational programs. For more information, call 998-4142 or visit www.polandspringps.org.
