Madusa, a 16-foot Burmese python, stretches out for children to touch at the Multi-Purpose Center in Lewiston on Wednesday. Derek Small, a zoo keeper with the Wildlife Encounters outreach program of the Granite State Zoo in Rochester, N.H., brought seven animals to show during the first “Wednesdays in the Park” of the summer. The weekly program is organized by the recreation departments of Lewiston and Auburn. Madusa weighs 120 pounds and will double in weight and grow another two to six feet in length when she reaches adulthood. The Dan Foley Juggling Show is the next “Wednesdays in the Park” feature on July 7 at 10 a.m. in Auburn’s Festival Plaza.
