LIVERMORE — The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center will open for the summer season on Saturday, July 3. The one-day event will offer tours of the historic 19th century buildings and a slice of Independence Day cake.
Visitors will tour the Italianate mansion and hear the story of Livermore’s Washburn family, whose sons rose from humble Maine beginnings to achieve remarkable political and entrepreneurial successes across the nation and abroad. The one-room schoolhouse and mid-1800s Universalist Meeting House will also be open, sharing a glimpse into rural life in days gone by. The tours will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $5.
Participants are invited to bring a picnic. No appointments are needed.
Throughout July and August, the museum will be also open between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m every Tuesday and Thursday for Living History Tours, where visitors will be engaged in the lifestyle of an 1870s farm family. Cost is $10 for adults or $25 for a family. No appointments are needed.
