FARMINGTON — On Tuesday, July 13, widely praised author and professor Jennifer Finney Boylan will be at DDG Booksellers to promote her new young adult fantasy, “Falcon Quinn and The Black Mirror.”
The “Falcon Quinn” series marks a new chapter for the author as her prior books have been best-selling memoirs such as “She’s Not There” and acclaimed novels such as “Getting In.”
Boylan has been a frequent guest on a number of national television and radio programs, including three visits to the “Oprah Winfrey Show.”
“She’s Not There,” published by Doubleday in 2003, was one of the first best-selling works by a transgendered American.
Boylan will participate in a reading group discussion from 6 to 7 p.m., and will then read from her new book and sign copies.
This fall, Boylan is scheduled to begin an appointment at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., as the Hoyer-Updike Distinguished Visiting Creative Writer, named to honor writers John Updike and his mother, Linda Grace Hoyer, for the contributions they made to American letters. She will return to Colby College for the spring 2011 semester.
Boylan lives in rural Maine with her spouse, Deirdre “Grace” Finney, and their two sons.
DDG Booksellers is at 193 Broadway.
