Society picnic
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Historical Society’s annual picnic will be held, rain or shine, at noon Sunday, Aug. 8, at the home of Tim Wisecarver and Sharon Garvey, 358 Cobbs Hill Road. Those attending are asked to bring a bag lunch and something to share; the society will provide punch.
Following the picnic, Garvey will present her final history of Camp Ohuivo. She has been collecting photos and mementos about the Thompson Lake camp for years, some of which she will share by means of a PowerPoint presentation. If possible, her talk will be videotaped.
Senior meeting
GREENWOOD — Members of the West Paris Senior Citizens will meet Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the home of Nancy and Andrew Dewing, Tower Road.
Class lunch
DIXFIELD — The Mexico High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Front Porch Cafe. Everyone is invited to Bob Brown’s home in Mexico after lunch.
Library speaker
BRYANT POND — Tucker Carlson, a regular contributor to Fox News, will be the guest speaker at the Whitman Memorial Library at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10. Carlson summers in Bryant Pond and said it is his “very favorite place in the whole world.”
The public is invited. There is no charge and light refreshments will be served.
Craft fair
SOUTH PARIS — There will be a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Maine Veterans Home, 477 High St. There will be a refreshment counter.
Church service
WILTON — The annual Wilton Blueberry Festival Ecumenical Church Service will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, at the Wilton United Methodist Church.
Participating churches are the Dryden Baptist Church, the Wilton United Methodist Church, the Congregational United Church of Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Following the service, a reception will be held to welcome newly appointed pastor to the Methodist Church, Laura Church. She also leads the North Vienna Methodist church.
