AUBURN — Pauline Rita Footer, also known as “Polly,” 77, a resident of 151 Golder Road, Lewiston, for the past 54 years, passed away with her loving family by her side, on Saturday, July 24, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born to parents, Joseph and Juliette Philippon Olivier in Lewiston, at home on River Street in Little Canada. She attended the Ave Maria Convent in Sabattus for a year then continued her education at Holy Family Parochial School in Lewiston, graduating in 1948. She graduated from high school with the Class of 1952.

Pauline married her high school sweetheart, David A. Footer on March 31, 1951. They were married 59 years and had seven children together.

She was a devoted wife and mother, daughter, granddaughter and niece. She was a faithful Catholic and lifetime member of Holy Family Church.

She enjoyed sharing her love for cooking and baking with others and for over 30 years made pies for the Christmas Fair. She served as president of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality and also voted “Mother of the Year” by the Ladies of St. Anne.

She was employed by Weight Watchers of Maine for 20 plus years as a lecturer. She taught microwave cooking courses at the YWCA in Auburn and managed the business office of Artistic Fish Mounting and Wildlife Art for her husband, David. Polly corresponded with over 6,000 customers by hand over 59 years of her career.

Pauline is survived by her husband, David; all of their seven children, Jane and her husband, George W. Cole, of Lewiston, Veronica and husband, Lenny Guerette, of Wallace, Mich., John D. Footer of “Footer’s Masonry” of Lewiston, Julie Ann Footer of Lewiston, Dorothy and husband, Peter Gray, of Greene, James Footer and Andrea Nyce of Lewiston, and Joseph and wife, Karen Footer of Auburn; 12 grandchildren, Candace and husband, Bill Cartwright, of Alaska, Donika and husband, Bill Jordan Jr., of Pownal, Nathan Footer and his wife, Jenna, of Lewiston, Becky and husband, Will Leighton, of Poland, Kate and husband, Keith Swaby, of Alaska, Kimberly Davenport of Lewiston, Crystal Davenport, Ben Davenport of Greene, Nicole Footer of Lewiston, Brandon Footer, who is attending UNOH in Lima, Ohio and Ashleigh and Hannah Footer of Auburn; and six great-grandsons, Cyrus Leighton, Logan Cartwright, Owen Swaby, Wyatt Jordan, Noah Footer and Aidan MacVane.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Jeremy Godin.
