SHAPLEIGH, Maine (AP) — Officials say a firefighter in the southern Maine town of Shapleigh was injured after her fire truck overturned on the Newfield Road while returning from a call.
Shapleigh Rescue Chief Mike Perro said the truck rolled over on a sharp turn and came to a rest upside down with the driver trapped inside at about 5 p.m. Sunday.
Rescue crews had to cut open the cab to rescue the woman, who was then taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The Lebanon Rescue Department said the firefighter, identified as Capt. Natasha Kinney, was recuperating at home.
