AUBURN — Dennis A. Smith Sr., 63, of Lewiston died Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.
He was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on Aug. 22, 1946, the son of Robert and Sylvia (Wood) Smith.
He was a graduate of Rumford High School and later served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he received a Bronze Star.
As a disabled veteran, Dennis still worked in various shoe and textile shops.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his son, Dennis A. Smith Jr.; his daughter, Lisa Thompson; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his sisters, Lois Richards, Cheryl Chartier and Josie Alimandi; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Bruce and Rodney Smith.
