FARMINGTON — Kate McCarty of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, is offering a 3-hour Preserving the Harvest workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at the extension office on Pleasant Street. Those interested are asked to register by Wednesday.
Participants will receive a Preserving the Harvest food preservation packet and learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, equipment to insure safety and how to check for properly sealed jars. Participants need to bring a potholder to the workshop. There is a materials fee of $10 per person.
Please call 778-4650 or 1-800-287-1478 by Aug. 18 to register for the preserving workshop. Materials fee is payable by writing a check to “FCEA” putting “Preserving the Harvest” in the memo section. Please contact the Franklin County Extension office seven days before the event if special accommodations are needed to attend.
