LEWISTON — L/A Arts will hold an opening reception for its “Colors of Hope” exhibit from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Gallery 5.

“Colors of Hope” will be mounted in conjunction with the Dempsey Challenge for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, encouraging artists and viewers to reflect upon art and creative endeavors as an expression of hope and inspiration.

Featured artists are Pam Bell, Stephanie Berry, Melinda Campbell, Nancy Engdahl, John Girouard, Susan Guthrie, David Hill, Sara Karam, Deanna Kersey, Ann L. Krumrein, Daryl-Ann Leonard, Marilyn Lucey, Daniel J. Marquis, Kay McKeever Allison, Valerie Provencher, Jim Walker, Helen Warren and jeweler Judy Shoob.

“We aim to feature a different Maine jeweler in the gallery jewelry case for each exhibit, and Judy’s work touches upon the healing and centering properties of different stones, which I feel is a notable complement to this particular exhibit,” said curator Jeanelle Demers.

The exhibit will run continue through Oct. 9. The opening reception is free; light refreshments will be served.

Gallery 5 is at 49 Lisbon St. For more information, visit www.laarts.org, call 782-7228 or e-mail gallery5@laarts.org.
