HIRAM — Maine Attorney General Janet Mills was a special guest at a reception honoring Rep. Helen Rankin of Hiram held at the home of Madeleine and Maurice Bernaiche on Bull Ring Road on Aug. 22.

Also attending were candidates Laura Ordway of Bridgton for Senate District 13, Lisa Villa of Harrison for House District 98, Oxford County Treasurer Roy Gedat of Norway and County Commissioner District 3 candidate Bob Kirchherr of Paris.

Oxford County Democrats Chair Cathy Newell of Greenwood and Vice Chair Mike Broderick of Bethel attended, as did an excellent turnout of friends and supporters of Rankin, who is seeking her second term in the Maine legislature.

In her remarks, Mills praised Rankin for her dedication to her district and her reputation as a thoughtful legislator, who carefully studies all issues and who reflects a deep commitment and knowledge health and nutrition and education.

“Helen has worked on a daily basis with staff and students in the local schools, and brings that perspective to the Education Committee. When she speaks, people listen,” Mills said.

Rankin and Mills spent several hours following the reception visiting voters in Hiram at their doors. Information about Rankin, as well as the other candidates is available on Facebook.
