Society meeting

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society met recently for a potluck supper and a meeting.

Members voted to have a “Bring a Guest” night at the next meeting, to be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20. The museum will also be open that day, beginning at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in the museum or the history of the building, which was originally an active Odd Fellows Hall, is welcome.

Preschool group

PARIS — The Paris Public Library is continuing to host a preschool play group at 9:30 a.m. Fridays. All children from ages 1 to 3 are invited to attend along with a parent or caregiver.

Yard sale fundraiser

NORWAY — The Norway Church of the Nazarene will hold a yard sale from 9 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at 14 Grove St. All funds raised will support teens from the church who are raising money to attend a youth conference in Kentucky.

Anyone wishing to donate items for the sale may call Pastor Shawn at 393-7960.

Walkathon

SOUTH PARIS — The Journey for Joelle Walkathon will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Padgett family.Registration for the 2.5-mile walk will begin at 9 a.m.

Jeff and Jenni Padgett of South Paris, teachers at Oxford Hills schools, are raising funds to help with the adoption of their little girl, Joelle, from China.

Dance

WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair will host a dance on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Fairgrounds on Green Road in North Waterford, with music by The Country Ridge Riders.

The dance will begin at 8 p.m. and it will be a BYOB event. The new kitchen will be open for light refreshments and to purchase ice. The charge will be $10 each person. For more information, call Penny Hill at 583-4160.
