Ice cream social

STRATTON — The Dead River Area Historical Society will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, for an ice cream social. Along with ice cream, volunteers will serve brownies a la mode.

Charlie Bruce will entertain with an afternoon of music. All are welcome to attend the free event.

There will also be a food sale to benefit the painting project. Anyone is invited to volunteer or bake for the sale. For more information, call Mary Henderson at 246-2271.

Marriage conference

WILTON — The Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Routes 2 and 4, will sponsor a “Love and Respect” marriage conference from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.

Art funding available

PORTLAND  — Small to medium-sized organizations involved in indigenous, ethnic or rural arts programs or projects, particularly those that serve areas with limited access to arts activities, are encouraged to apply for funding from the Maine Community Foundation’s Expansion Arts Fund.
