Players wanted

LEWISTON — The Multi-Purpose Center Seniors will start new cribbage and pinochle leagues on Thursday, Sept. 2. Cribbage will start at 9 a.m. and pinochle at 1 p.m. A new pitch league will start at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 24 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; second, Leslie Lord and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; fourth, Linda Leotsakos and Janet Arey; fifth, Tom Collins and Patricia Quinn.

Winners in Flight B were: first, William and Cynthia Clifford; second, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner. Winners in Flight C were William and Cynthia Clifford. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the center.

The club also met on Aug. 25 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Leslie Buzzell and John Hackett; tied at second, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus with Mike and Pat Quinn; fourth, Claire Lyons and Marta Clements. Winners in Flight B were Ron and Connie Reynolds. Another game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Schooner Estates.

Association to meet

LEWISTON — The National Association of Insurance Women, Androscoggin Valley, will meet Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Marco’s Restaurant on Mollison Way. The meeting will begin with social/networking time at 5 p.m. and dinner at 5:45 p.m. Members and guests will be welcomed to the first meeting of the 2010-2011 membership year with the new president, Elaine Taylor. The Horizon Plan, standing rules and bylaws will be reviewed.

BOWDOIN — Members of the Bowdoin Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at the FHC building. Ernest DeRaps, a lighthouse keeper and artist, will speak about his work. Society members are requested to bring an item for the refreshment table. The public is invited and new society members are welcome.

DAR to meet

AUBURN — The new year of meetings of the Daughters of the American Revolution will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the summer home of Bea Hodgkin on Cove Road.

Any woman over the age of 18 who can prove a direct bloodline to a Revolutionary War soldier or to someone who gave aid to the cause of freedom is eligible to join.
