AUBURN – For the second straight year, Team Argo/Brunswick Steel has advanced to the Auburn Men’s rec softball championship. Argo secured it’s spot in the finals with two thrilling playoff wins on Thursday night at Pettengill Park.

In the opener, Argo dispatched Taylor Brook Dental in a thrilling 4-3 comeback win. Trailing 3-1, Argo’s Scott Tiner and Ben Lachance singled to lead off the sixth inning. Argo’s J.J. Varney then doubled, scoring Tiner. Toby Tiner Jr. then singled, scoring Lachance and Varney for the final tally. Lachance led both teams with three hits.

Argo convincingly ousted top seed Evergreen, 14-6, in the nightcap. Varney led both teams with four hits. Matt Hiscock and Bill Sutherland added three hits and three RBIs apiece.

Del Cooper was the winning hurler in both games. Argo will face the Tailgaters in the finals at 6 p.m. Monday at Pettengill Park.
