SANFORD (AP) — Officials say no one was hurt when a small airplane crash-landed after the pilot forgot to lower the landing gear in Sanford.
Airport Manager Dana Parry says the single-engine Cessna Cutlass set down at 9:25 a.m. without landing gear. He says the plane skidded for a couple hundred feet on the runway, and came to a rest upright.
He says the plane suffered minor damage. The pilot wasn’t identified.
Parry says the pilot had flown from Biddeford for breakfast at the restaurant at the Sanford Regional Airport, which is popular with hungry pilots. He says they call it home of the “$100 hamburger” because of the price of aircraft fuel.
