MEXICO — Three more burglaries and thefts have been reported in an area that has seen five similar incidents since late August.

Mexico police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said Tuesday that when neighbors in the targeted area of Fourth Street and Swett Avenue learned about the break-ins and thefts that occurred between Aug. 20 and Sept. 8, they checked their garages.

He said he received a report from a Fifth Street resident on Sept. 11 that someone stole his pickup truck and caused about $3,000 damage before it was returned. The thief also stole a five-gallon can of gas and a siphon hose.

On Sept. 13, two Fourth Street residents reported break-ins to their garages, and thefts of a five-gallon can of gas, a nearly full 2.5-gallon can of gas, and a siphon hose.

Some damage was done to a couple of the properties to gain entrance to the garages.

Hodsdon said three empty gas cans and one siphon hose have been recovered, all beside Fifth Street.

He said he is interviewing suspects and expects to make arrests in the next few days.
