LEWISTON — A new Mexican restaurant featuring authentic cuisine will open Thursday and will feed for free firefighters and police officers from the Lewiston-Auburn area as part of its grand opening fiesta, beginning at 5 p.m., a spokesman said Wednesday.

Hacienda Del Patron at the Lewiston Mall on Lisbon Street will become the sixth restaurant in a New England chain owned by Guiermo Fuentez, said Joey Lopez, a spokesman for the the restaurant.

Lopez said local officials from both cities and the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce would be on hand for the grand opening.

Feeding firefighters and police officers was a way to say “gracias” to those who give to the community, Lopez said.
