LIVERMORE — Selectpersons voted Monday to appoint Gina St. Pierre as town representative on the RSU 36 Board of Directors, town administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said.

Rodney Newman resigned from the position earlier this month.

Regional School Unit 36 serves Livermore and Livermore Falls.

St. Pierre will serve until the town’s annual election of municipal and school officers in June 2011. That’s when Newman’s term was to expire.

St. Pierre could file nomination papers to run for a three-year term at that time.

The school system “law allows for our Board of Selectpersons to appoint a director to serve until the next municipal election, which will be in June,” Schaub said.

Interested people had until Monday to contact the town.

“We had one individual, Gina St. Pierre, express an interest in serving,” he said.

“Gina has attended a number of RSU 36 board meetings and I’ve had calls of support for her appointment from other Livermore board members,” Schaub said.

Selectpersons also approved a liquor license application for a catered function at Washburn-Norlands Living History Center, he said. Churchill Events of Portland, which will be catering a wedding this Saturday, submitted the application.

“At first glance, this application appears to butt up against the town’s newly enacted Special Amusement Ordinance,” Schaub said. “On further checking by a state liquor inspector, it was learned that the event will involve a brief service, champagne toast, and dinner. There will be no music or dancing, and the event will be limited to 21 guests.”

It did not rise to the standard that would trigger a special amusement permit, Schaub said. A Washburn descendant is getting married there, he said.

The board also voted to hold its meetings at 6:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m., Schaub said. Meetings are held every other Monday, except for Monday holidays when they shift to Tuesdays. The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the town office due to the Columbus Day holiday, he said.

In other business, the board appointed Jean Tardif and Patricia Keen to the Cemetery Committee and Rod Newman to the Planning Board.
