I write in support of Lois Snowe-Mello for election to the state Senate.

She recently came to Durham to listen to our concerns, and hear what was on our minds. I wish more of our leaders would do this.

The people who control Washington and Augusta don’t listen to us. We say live within our means, don’t borrow against our children’s future, and let small businesses create jobs. They respond to our concerns by spending more than we can afford, running up more debt, and expanding our welfare system so that close to 30 percent of Maine people are on it.

They should focus on fostering independence, not dependency.

Last June, voters repealed Libby Mitchell and Deb Simpson’s 100-plus new taxes. They tried to tax things such as auto repairs.

Lois Snowe-Mello fought to repeal those taxes because she votes with us, not against us.
