RUMFORD — In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a resource fair and panel discussion will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the American Legion Hall, 24 Congress St.
Panelists will include Detective Thomas Harriman, the Oxford County domestic violence investigator; educators and advocates from the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project; Jenni Smith from the Department of Health and Human Services; Chris Copeland, executive director of Tri-County Mental Health Services; and Catherine Ryder, clinical director of Tri-County Mental Health Services.
There will be information about community efforts to promote safe relationships, what resources are available and what to expect when reaching out.
“It is important for everyone to know there is help and hope for people experiencing domestic violence, and that each of us can make a difference,” said Diane Gallagher, AWAP Oxford County community educator.
The event is part of the Dinner and Discussion Series hosted by Tri-County Mental Health Services, Swift River Health Care, River Valley Internal Medicine, Elsemore Dixfield Center and Community Dental, as part of their Integrated Primary Care Project.
The free dinners are held on the third Wednesday of each month and examine a different topic related to health and well-being. For information or to register, call 369-1194.
